France delays introducing the Eco-tax until 2014
The French government has taken the decision to delay introducing the new Eco-tax until 1st January, 2014. The delay was a result of a series of failures during tests that were carried out last summer. The problems were associated with the working system of the electronic devices responsible for tracking the vehicles that would be subject to paying this tax.
The Eco-tax, which will be applied to heavy goods vehicles, is an environmental tax that will be levied on transport vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tonnes. This tax will be applicable to vehicles using over 15,000 kilometres France’s national and regional road network.
